On March 20, 2019, Dr. Kim Ha-joong became the 7th Chief of the National Assembly Research Service of the Republic of Korea. He was appointed by Speaker Moon Hee-sang and approved by the House Steering Committee of the National Assembly.
In his inauguration speech, Dr. Kim promised to "strive to provide the best legislative research service to the National Assembly in order to fulfill its responsibilities in playing a pivotal role in legislation and policymaking of the Republic of Korea."
After earning his lawyer's license by passing the 29th Korean bar examination, Dr. Kim went on to serve as a prosecutor at Seoul District Prosecutor's Office and also as the chief of Gwangju District Public Prosecutor's Office Mokpo until 2009. Having earned a BA and PhD in Law from Korea University, he served as a professor at Chonbuk National University and Chonnam National University Law School from 2010 to 2016, after which he worked as an attorney.
